more from myanmar…

15 05 2008

We are reading and hearing a variety of things from Myanmar.

1.  We continue to receive updates from our closest friends. Prices are rising daily on the necessities of living – rice, vegetables, cooking oil.

2. They are safe – just tired and overwhelmed.

3. Their faith is very strong – they are praising God despite the difficulties.

We are reading much from Asian news sources, including ‘minority reports’ from within Myanmar.

1. The junta is closing off access to the Ayawaddy Division – they (the government) is reporting that all is back to normal there – people have resumed their lives and are replaning crops. – this is not true at all.

2. Another thing – there are many false pictures on the internet – many of the Tsunami pictures are being passed off as Myanmar cyclone pictures.

3. The government is intent on not allowing relief workers in – they believe they can handle the relief effort. – but this is also not true. The UN is saying that 60% of the children in Ayawaddy have diarrhea and there could be as many as 2.5 million people who are in dire need (life-threatening situations).

continue to pray!!!!
